NDLR Resource of the Month

Reusable Learning Objects in Mathematics
Project Leader: Ciaran MacAnBhaird NUIM
Institutional Coverage: NUIM, DCU, IT Carlow
Overview: The Mathematics Support Centre (MSC) was established in the National University of Ireland Maynooth in 2007. Attendance figures have been very high so the MSC Manager (Dr Ciarán Mac an Bhaird) and Director (Dr. Ann O'Shea) decided to work on the development of a comprehensive set of electronic resources to give students access to mathematics support at anytime. A number of resources are already available (www.mathcentre.ac.uk).

We identified two areas, Limits and Sequences and Series, which required extra material and a comprehensive series of videos, handouts and podcasts are being developed. The videos completed to-date are posted on the appropriate moodle sites for students and initial feedback has been very encouraging. We are using a number of softwares including Screenr and we are also using Articulate to present the various resources as one central file. This will be freely available for anyone to use once the project has been completed.
